About Sang Kee Peking Duck House

Since 1980, we've been serving our famous Peking Duck to Philadelphians. We were the first to bring it to Philadelphia and have been here ever since. We're proud to roast our ducks fresh every day in Chinatown.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Philadelphia; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Pennsylvania are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 am–8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Was able to get a seat right away on a Sunday night around 730pm. Great customer service from every staff here. They are patient with you, take away empty plates, refill water. All the food came out quickly, hot, and fresh. The buns for the duck was very soft.

I should have listened to Tim when he warned my fiancΓ©e and me back in March of 2024 when we visited this restaurant about the reality of the size of the Peking Duck Dinner for Two we ordered. Because prior to ordering that sequence of delicacies, we ordered Fried Wontons and Two Peking Duck Rolls to share. We should have not done that. Because the Peking Duck Dinner for Two was huge enough that we could not finish it. Despite our inability to finish it, we truly enjoyed each of its components. The Half Peking Duck was truly delicious. To be our first time eating duck in our respective lives, we were truly blown out of our minds. The Chow family really know how to roast their ducks like back in their old country. The Wonton Noodle Soup with Green Vegetables was hot enough like to help us deal with the cold weather outside the restaurant. We could not have asked for more. The Shredded Duck and String Bean Stirfry was also delicious and enjoyable. The Spicy Duck and Pineapple Fried Rice was a little more spicy to suit our taste, but we still ate it enjoyably. There was not a single thing we did not enjoy at the restaurant when we dined there during our stay in Philly two years ago.

Sang Kee is literally my favorite restaurant in all of Chinatown, or Center City for that matter. The duck is fantastic, but so is their incredible BBQ pork. I'd highly recommend the pork and duck with veg and rice dish, it's always been my go to. The appetizers are also fantastic, so feel free to try anything that catches your eye on the menu, I've never had a bad meal at Sang Kee in the 9 years I've been dining here. It was very busy when we arrived around 6pm on a Saturday night, but table turn around was very fast and our wait was short. Service was tremendous, we never felt rushed despite how many people were waiting to get inside, and we left satisfied and very full. Sang Kee is the best!

We stopped by after visiting Big Bounce America on a rainy weekend and chose this restaurant based on its great Google reviews. We ordered the sautΓ©ed pea shoots with garlic, roast duck wonton noodle soup, and the roast duck & BBQ pork over rice. The roast duck was definitely the highlightβ€”juicy, flavorful, and with just the right amount of rich fat. I would recommend the duck. Unfortunately, the BBQ pork was extremely salty. Every bite needed a big mouthful of rice to balance it out, and it was honestly disappointing. Overall, I’d come back for the roast duck, but I would probably skip the BBQ pork next time.

I heard Sang Kee is an iconic spot in Chinatown, so I had to try it with friends. I forgot exactly what we ordered, but it was a whole duck split into multiple dishes. The bill came out to almost $200 for four people, which is not bad at all considering how good it was!
